Today, this remains one of the rarest artifacts of the Restoration; of the original 600 plates, only 14 are known to exist, with the majority securely housed in the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City and historic sites in Nauvoo. While the "Historical Blue" motif has long been the standard for this commission, a remarkable discovery in Liverpool, England, recently revealed a small, forgotten box of these plates in a vibrant red.
